PTSD Awareness Campaign

Do you have a story about PTSD? We want to hear about your experiences, what worked or what could be done better. (click here to send a message)

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a serious condition affecting our troops and their families. Our Warriors have endured things that thankfully most Americans will never have to, but unfortunately this is one of the often overlooked side effects of war.

PTSD has been reported in over 300,000 of the 1.5 million troops that have deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan (in reality unreported estimates could be much higher) Suicide rates, substance abuse and domestic violence are all on the rise. (read about it here) The good news: PTSD is treatable especially if detected early!

We want all veterans, families and communities to be "Aware" of the facts, signs/symptoms and the resources available to them. We want to promote organizations/resources that offer good programs with “simplified” access available for our troops. And finally we want to work with military units and the public to help reduce the stigma associated with PTSD in hopes of “encouraging” a safe, non-threatening environment where soldiers can seek attention without threat or worry.

We will be climbing to each of the 50 State highpoints (loftier goals - TBA!) and along the way we will be working hard to make some changes for the better. This mission, message and flag of “Summit for Soldiers” represents all of our brothers and sisters who may be suffering from PTSD, the challenges they may face, and that they CAN overcome it just like the challenges of reaching the summit of a mountain.

The Bottom Line:

If you're a family member of a suffering Veteran - We want you to know where you can turn.

If you're a Veteran who is suffering - We want you to know you're not alone, and there is help available.

If you're a Veteran who is not suffering - We want you to reach out to someone who is.

If you're an Organization that has something to offer a suffering Veteran - We want them to know about it.

If you're a solution - We want it known.

If you're a problem - We want it resolved.

We hope that you'll find this endeavor as important as we do, but success will depend on all of us working together. Click here to find out how to get involved. - Thank You
